Very disappointed...
Well, it seems as though I may have spoke to soon. Damn economy... Damn gas prices... Damn government and their "big brother" B.S.
To conclude with my last blog, it looks like it may have to be deleted until further notice. I received a gut stabbing phone call on Thursday from my district manager. Apparently, our corporate decided to make a decision, due to the decrease in sales, to shut down my branch. Fortunately because we are nation wide he was able to relocate me. However that does mean that the branch I was going to become manager for was taken from me, so it will be delayed. :(
On a better note, because I don't have a negative character, I looked towards to positive side. The manager of the branch that I will be working for is in the top 9 percentile of branch managers, so I will have a great opportunity to work with a great mentor. Also, the branch I will be working in is only a 5 mile difference from the branch I'm at now. My boss approved me to get overtime when ever, for training purposes. And, instead of working ever other weekend I am able to work ever 3rd weekend, so that will turn out for me. So... I'm pretty disappointed but I'm trying to keep my head high a stick through and push my hardest so that I can have the chance to get the next BM position, when available.

Good news!
Okay okay okay... Wow... I feel so honored to feel missed :) I miss each and every one of you! I truly am sorry that I have not been keeping contact with everyone and have been so busy. Like I said in the last blog I have been so busy with work that it's really hard for me to keep up and visit!! Again, I'm sorry :) So I thought that I would break down what it's been like for me lately.
Well, as some of you already know approximately 2 weeks ago (? time is disappearing before my eyes?) I was taken out for lunch one Friday after noon with my manager. It was so nice to finally get out of the office for a lunch break! I got to pick and of course I chose STARBUCKS! I must let you all in on a little secret... getting up 5-6 days a week at 4am is NOT easy! Caffeine is my best friend, and with lack of sleep, food means nothing during the day. I find dinner to be my only meal. But I'm still getting my calcium and fat intake with 2 triple non-fat mocha's a day and 2 sugar free red bulls a day. But I will say that I have lost weight! I don't know how much exactly but in the last 2 months I've bought jeans 2 times in smaller sizes and the last pair is now to big!!! Back to the story, so here we are sitting in Starbucks and I'm completely indulged in my coffee when out of no where my manager tells me "Your starting manager training on Monday." WHAT? I mean I was expecting it but I was expecting later down the road not 1 month after I started!!!
So that's where I'm at right now. I have already started my training process... I've personally introduced myself the the customers as the branch manager, started going to on site visits, selling the company. I'm really getting the ball rolling!!! As of August 1st I officially take the title. Although I will not be in the branch for the first month. You see I have to go through a 4 week training course at corp. in Tacoma. It will be Monday-Friday 10hrs each day. The cool part is I will be staying in a hotel over there and it's all expenses paid! So that will be fun... and then in September/October I've herd rumor that we will be going to North Carolina for a week leadership training. Branch managers get to travel all over for training, recently they went to Chicago!! And the cool part is they pay for everything! Some of the Branch Manager let me in on a little secret. If we ever travel somewhere that I want to take a vacation to, I can exchange my return ticket for a later date and just pay for the extra days in the hotel room. So all that I would need to pay is extra days, some food, and Nate's tickets if he chose to come. A whole lot cheaper!!! So I'm excited.... More $$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The base pay for the position (with out reimbursement of cell phone, mileage, and commission) is $42,000.00 a year! That's triple what I am making now!! I've been waiting for this for a long time!
Well, enough with tooting my own horn. I just wanted to share my exciting news! Oh and my schedule that I have been working is Mon-Sat 4-3 so yeah I am pooped!!!

Hello family!
My mind is racing with so much gibberish that I decided I would just let it all out with a LONG over due blog. I must start by saying that I really enjoy reading every ones emails and blogs. I take a 15 min break from my busy work schedule each day to catch up on every ones stories and "listen here" comments. I must say that I look forward to them! Here are my messages to all:
Deanne: With your experience with breeding dogs, have you ever herd of reverse sneezing? I have been doing a lot of research on it, since my parents dog came down with what we thought was allergies. It is mostly common in terriors, Pomeranian, chuaua's, and shiztus. (So I guess your Shepard's don't have anything to worry about :) ) Basically, with those breeds of dogs, when they get to a certain age, their trachea tubs collapse making it hard for them to breath. There is no medical treatment necessary, it's just hard to see a little dog go through these "fits". What he does when this happens is he sneezes uncontrollably trying to take a breath through his mouth. Snorting and honking just trying to grasp a little wind. They say when this happens not to be alarmed and simply get him distracted and take him outside to the fresh air or on a jog to force him to breath through his mouth. It's so much work just to breath, poor little guy. Do you have any miracle suggestions? Do you think the Triple flex would work??? :)
Brynne: So I have been hearing a lot about this hiking trip that Kwinton is going to take and be home just in time for the wedding. I think that it's wonderful that families can bond like that, but aren't you scared that he will be injured before the wedding? Or even himself? I give you so much credit for being so courageous!! You Go Girl! Also I have a question... if you could give anyone advice on how to prepare themselves for wedding details what would you say? And would you do anything different.
Caitlyn: I just simply wanna know when your coming back home!? Also, with being a little more prepared and have just a few things in order before he popped the question, do you think that helped you with having less stress?
Amber, Holly, Lindy: Have you guys been taking monthly baby bump pictures? I wanna see if you have :) Also my mind is drawing a huge blank... have you guys thought of names yet?
Kristy: How are big brother and big sister with the new little one? And I'm also drawing a blank but did you ever mention how you came up with her name? Very unique!
Michelle: I bet you are getting so excited about the big day... I have the same question for you, if you could give anyone advice on how to prepare themselves for marriage what would you say and would you do anything different?
Becky: What was it like being the head nurse for the birth of your niece? Did you find it any different than any of the other babies you've delivered?
Deb, and Dar: What is the emotion going through you seeing your little girls becoming mothers just like you?
I know these questions may be kinda random but I really have wondered. With the busy schedules and with work I haven't been able to make it to any events. I am really sorry for that by the way! I didn't know how work was going to effect me so much :( I must let you all know that with taking time off in July for Brynne and Kwinton's wedding and the vacation Nate and I planned 7 months ago my boss had to shuffle our schedules around to have mine covered. So, this weekend will be the only weekend I will have off until I go to the events. I will be working 3 weekends in a row, then the following weekend will be the wedding and the following 2 weekends will be for our vacation. I apologize for not being able to make it a head of time. I hope that there might be a time where we can squeeze something in! I hope everyone is doing well!!

New eye on life...
"Never judge a book by it's cover." ~ Strong meaningful words that I didn't truly understand until now.
It was my third day at labor ready and I must say... I think I lied about the company. When I described what I will be doing I made it to believe that I'm just going to put people to work. This is true to a sense. However I'd like to change the job description... What Labor Ready does is, gives people second chances!
I have met some really interesting people. My job doesn't really consist of much paper work so I fill my 8 hours of the day just listening. Everyone has a story, reason, and goal for being a temp employee for labor ready. (If you remember a few blogs back I said we put people who don't have full time jobs to work. Most are homeless, have bad pasts, or are getting off of their addiction) They are trying to get them selves back on their feet, have enough money for a hotel room for a night, or just eat. I've only known these people for 3 days, and so many have already touched my heart and make me look at life a little differently. I would like to share a storie with you about a worker who has touched me.
EMPLOYEE 1- He's in his late 30's, very well spoken and polite. He use to be a manager for Microsoft, until he got into some trouble with drugs and was let go. He sold everything he owns just to pay for a high. He has been employeed with Labor Ready for a couple years. He says if it wasn't for them he might not be alive. The company gave him encouragement and a way to make money, and he's been clean for over a year. He works for Labor Ready 3-4 times a week. On the other days of the week he volunteers for a company that fixs computers and ships the computers over seas for " the less fortunate countrys" and the military men at war." Yesterday we sent him on a 12 hour job and he got paid the same day. Today he comes into Labor Ready and we prepaired him for another day of dutie. As we were about ready to hand him his slip, to our suprise, he asked if there was a way he could get a little cash advance and would pay it back at the end of the day. Now, bescause we knew for a fact he had recieved a check the day before, and with his past we wondered why he was asking for a few dollars. After poping the question he proceded to tell us he needed money to eat because he hadn't eaten since Friday. My heart instantly went out to him and I gave him the change out of the bottom of my purse, which was only 2 dollars. He left for work and came back 8 hours later to get paid. After cutting him a check, he reaced for his wallet. It was VERY old there were no cards, cash, just a few pieces of paper. He pulled out 6 folded up pieces and proceded to unfold them. He picked them up and passes them my way. I looked at the top one and noticed it was a check, our check for the previous day. He asked me if I could add them. As I flipped through I realized they were all checks, ranging from 24-73 dollars. I added them and gave him a grand total of $307.00. "why had he not cashed them, I asked myself." So I asked him why. He told me he "didn't want to cash them because he knew he would spend them and the money was for something special." Again out of curiosity I asked why? "Well you see, I need $350.00. I'm going to best buy in a few days to by a laptop. I'm working on a special progect through (the company he is voluntering for-I don't remember the name) and it requires a better looking laptop and we only have really old ones there. So I decided I was going to buy one so we can fufill the desire of the less fortunate person we're building it for." Here is a man who has nothing! No food, no house, only 3 pieces of clothing, and does hard work almost every day, and he's giving his hard earned money away to a stranger. WOW!!! There are only a few people out there who are really genuine!
There are a few people there who have stories like his, I just need to listen. Working for this company makes me so thankful for what I have! You can never really tell why someone might be a certain why, until you walk a day in their shoes. I look at people and situations in a different way now. If I could give anyone some advice I would say Listen, Give chances, and DON'T judge!
I will be sharing more stories as they come and I hope you will enjoy them and get the same message I did.

True Friend!
Tomorrow is my last day at Bickford. I am so nervous! Everyone has asked me if I was excited or ready for the change. Honestly... I'm not, but I am! I am so scared. I have never done anything like this before. I am more then willing to put forth the effort though, just scared. I have a really good friend that recommended me, I can't thank him enough!!!! Michael Marion, for him to stand behind me makes me feel honored. He is my best friends husband, dedicated father, and true leader. I'm not sure about the conversations that him and my "soon to be boss" have had about me, but obviously he saw something in me that my own boss didn't. And thats dedication. I "sold" myself to Kelley Hutchinson to get the Labor Ready position and he saw what Mike saw. Now I have to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk.
I know that I can do ANYTHING I put my mind to! I'm not one to give up but like I said, I'm scared. After today, it really hit me. I'm going to miss the girl talks, and the relationships I gained. Giggling with Tamera, and joking around was really hard for me. I am trully going to miss that! I have gained a really good friend and I don't want to lose that! But I have to think about my future and what's best for me. After talking with Ms. X today... I became aware how she was betrade by her "bestfriend". ~What a bestfriend she had. And I don't want to be like Ms. X. I know that I would never betray my friends and neither would they, I just don't want to lose what I have! It is so special to have a person who will listen to you about your problems, connect with, and just be TRUTHFUL!! ~Take a hint, this is true friendship! I know that I will not lose my friends, and I may gain new ones, but I just cherish what I have! SAD.... Yeah... I'm not going to be able to stay away for long!!! Monday after work I'll be back, I can't stay away from my friends! I can't wait for tomorrow!!!

It's official...
Saturday morning was a good day to wake up to. After rolling out of bed at 8 am, getting dressed, putting on the make-up, getting in the car, grabbing a Triple non-fat white mocha, Nate and I headed to North Gate. I had to stop by Labor Ready and fill out my "new hire" paper work. 15 pages of nothingness... boring!!! However... it's now official I'm with the company! And I recieved some good information!
Michelle: (speaking to Branch manager Andrea) So, my first day is the 7th in the Ballard branch. Kelley (the district manager) said I will be training there for the first couple weeks. Where do you think I will be located after the training?
Andrea: Well, you might want to talk to Kelley but, I believe he is going to have to go between the 3 North Seattle branches. That's what he said a few days ago anyways. Branch managers work between branches, and he wants you to get a feel for what the managers do.
Michelle: Well, I know that my shift starts at 6am, so is that when I will start all the time?
Andrea: Yes... Branch managers always work the morning shift. So he's getting you prepared for that. I'm not sure how fast you will pick up on things but if you work hard and you look at the bright side you will get there a lot faster. The way Kelley was talking it sounds like you will be training for the branch manager position and he wants you to prepare for what's to come.
Michelle: Well, that's good. I'm going into this with a positive attitude and I'm going to push myself.

Labor Ready
Thank you all so much for your support~ I really couldn't be as upbeat about the change with out you all. I think I got a little carried away about everything that I forgot to tell you what Labor Ready really is... Let me try to explain what I know already...
What we do at Labor Ready is simple: We put people to work. Each year, Labor Ready’s branch locations dispatch approximately 600,000 temporary workers to our more than 300,000 customers in a diverse range of industries, including construction, transportation, warehousing, hospitality, landscaping, light manufacturing, distribution and sanitation. Labor Ready is spread across the United States, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, and Canada. This will be good if I ever decide to move to a different state, I can transfer!!!
Basically what it comes down to is if you are working for a company that may be slow for a season we find you work. Or if a person is no longer with a full time company and need work they come to Labor Ready.
Example:
We'll use Nate for a small scenario. Right now things are working great for him, the company has a HUGE line of work. But we'll say for some odd reason the season slows down, and his boss tells him to take the day off. That's when he calls us... That's when we get a hold of our "electric companies" and find work for him that day. He comes in puts in a minimum of 4 hours work and he gets paid for that day of work, at the end of his shift.
That is one example however... the role is reversed. If we have a company that needs a couple workers for a job site because all his crew didn't show up, we would call temporary people like Nate.

What we do at Labor Ready is simple: We put people to work. Each year, Labor Ready’s branch locations dispatch approximately 600,000 temporary workers to our more than 300,000 customers in a diverse range of industries, including construction, transportation, warehousing, hospitality, landscaping, light manufacturing, distribution and sanitation. Labor Ready is spread across the United States, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, and Canada. This will be good if I ever decide to move to a different state, I can transfer!!!
Basically what it comes down to is if you are working for a company that may be slow for a season we find you work. Or if a person is no longer with a full time company and need work they come to Labor Ready.
Example:
We'll use Nate for a small scenario. Right now things are working great for him, the company has a HUGE line of work. But we'll say for some odd reason the season slows down, and his boss tells him to take the day off. That's when he calls us... That's when we get a hold of our "electric companies" and find work for him that day. He comes in puts in a minimum of 4 hours work and he gets paid for that day of work, at the end of his shift.
That is one example however... the role is reversed. If we have a company that needs a couple workers for a job site because all his crew didn't show up, we would call temporary people like Nate.
